Life is like cycling
Went cycling at East Coast Park with Peng today. It rained. Hmph ...
It started drizzling when we were cycling away from the National Service Resort & Country Club. THEN it got real windy. Then my Fila cap was blown off my head. Then I turned around and panicked. Then I lost control of my bicycle ... and PIANG ... I fell down. OUch!!! There's a bruise on my right thigh now. =(
I got up immediately, picked up my cap and got back onto my bicycle again. My heart was racing ... I was very scared. Peng was in front of me and there were no one in sight. EEEkkk. I finally understand why my friends refuse to learn cycling. =(
IT suddenly dawned on me that life is like cycling. 生命如骑车
The process of learning how to cycle is like one learning how to be a person.
How to be independent. How to be a better person in life.
The bumpy paths are like small problems/setbacks you encounter in your life.
You can still get on with your life, but you have to slow down.
The falls are like major setbacks such as heartbreak, retrenchment.
When you fall, you stop moving on with your life... at least for a while.
Some pick themselves up very quickly and move on.
Some need to take a break and nurse the wounds.
They are like essential lessons one learns in life.
The bad weather are like situations which are not within your control...
Natural disasters, deaths of your loved ones etc.
Some persevere and continue moving on.
Some take a break and wait for the bad weather to blow over.
The people cycling beside you are your loved ones...
Some cycle alone all their lives while some cycle in company of family and many friends.
Thinking back now. I realise tat I've been very lucky.
My learning process wasn't very tough.
My path hasn't been very bumpy.
My falls weren't very bad and frequent.
The weather hasn't been very bad.
And most importantly, I have been cycling with good company.
To all those I love at home, my wonderful colleagues and friends.
Thank you.
