:(

Kumpo had a fall late last year. She lost her balance and fell down in the toilet at home. Fell flat on her face. Luckily everyone was home and still awake. She was sent to the hospital immediately. Lost a lot of blood.

When I went to visit her yesterday, she looked so frail. Sunken cheeks, sunken eyes, 皮包骨. Lost a lot of weight. She is bit disoriented (dementia is probably setting in too) and kept thinking I was Amelia. Her colon is not functioning well and she is passing out blood everyday. My heart ached when I saw her in such a state, I almost cried but I managed to hold back my tears. As usually, Alice couldn't control her tears. She left the room to compose herself before speaking to her.

Kumpo is the second closest granny other than my maternal grandma. She took care of me when I was a baby. Back then, my parents were young and both had to work. No one was willing to take care of me except her. Alice said it was easy to take care of me and hence kumpo didn't mind. She took care of me till I went kindergarten.

Kumpo is lucky in a way. Uncle Dan and Aunt Mon are very filial. Aunt Mon takes care of her and Kaogong in the day. She has to bathe them change their diapers 8-10 times daily. She hardly has any time to herself. Uncle Dan and Aunt Mon did not abandon them or send them to the elder daycare centre / old folks home. I really salute to Aunt Mon for her perseverance. Not many children can take care of their aged parents like she does. And she is not even taking care of her own parents. On top of this, she still looks after her 14-month-old grandson. SUPERWOMAN!

This really makes me reflect.

Life is short. Do whatever you wanna do.
If you make mistakes, just move on. Don't be so hard on yourself.

You only live once.
