The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

Met Kim and her lovely daughter, Mei, yesterday. Mei is still as cuteee... Such a darling... I feel that she has grown quite a bit, she has become more rebellious... She is not as obliging as before. She has learnt to say "No", "I don't want", ... Well, she's probably into another phase of her childhood...

Had a good chat with Kim while waiting for Hui. Though she doesn't regret having Mei, she does regret (a little) giving up her banking job to take care of Mei. She's afraid that she will not be able to get a job when Mei goes to school. She's envious of us cos we have a job, we have freedom, we can splurge without thinking twice.

What she doesn't see is the work-related stress we have, the never-ending deadlines, office politics, bitching... =(

I'm envious of her. She's a tai-tai, she doesn't have to worry about work, she has a loving husband, she just needs to take care of her lovely child... When we are 50, Mei will be 27. Kim will probably become a mother-in-law, grandmother earlier than us... =)

What I fail to see is the frustration, stress, she faces taking care of Mei, 24/7. She can be bored with her life too.

THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE.

Kim's side of the fence - husband, child, marriage, motherhood...
My side of the fence - singlehood

I thought I was ready for motherhood. So I kinda decided to adopt a child when I am 35 and if I am still single. Never really told anyone about it. =p Hmmm, I need to review this...

I like my side of the fence.
